I was using my IC-7300 in AFSK Mode in the CQ WW RTTY contest. I decided to enter as “assisted” so I could maximize my score, given that I was only going to operate for a couple of hours. I started to pick some Spots and the frequencies were off by about 1.5 kHz. I use the “LSB-D” mode on the 7300 when working RTTY. I have seen this before…
Since I was using AFSK, my received “Mark” frequency was 1445 kHz in the audio passband. I did a quick look on the Web, and a post reminded me of what I forgot. When you are using AFSK, you must “Turn Auto TRXUpdate On” in the Digital Interface window Settings. Once you do that, the Spot frequencies will be correct (or at least very close).
Now I remember. Posting this so I can find it the next time I forget.
